Oundle Community Pre-School provides a caring and stimulating start to learning for children aged 2 – 4 years old. We are open between 9.15am-12.15pm every term time week day, with daily lunch club running until 12.45pm and have now offer extended hours until 3.15pm on certain days. To cater for the needs of working parents, we have strong links with local child-minders who can collect children and look after them during the other afternoons.
You can find us in Fletton House, off the Glapthorn Road, next to the town library and doctor’s surgery; children come to us from the town and the surrounding villages.
We have excellent large indoor and outdoor areas. The school has been recently renovated throughout, and the big, bright main room has been carefully divided into different areas, creating a safe, comfortable environment. Freedom to move between different areas in the main room, the kitchen and the playground supports children in directing their play and learning and helps develop confidence in preparation for Primary School.
Children go on regular outings to play in the woods or the fields, and on visits to places such as the cafe, fire station and library, which enhances understanding of the wider community in which they live.
We have a caring and dedicated staff - who act as guides, facilitating learning by planning activities based on the child’s interests and engaging in activities alongside them. A key worker is appointed to each child to ensure he or she is supported during their time with us and we work closely with parents to ensure their children develop and grow under our care. We use the secure, private online reporting system ORBIT, which allows parents to see what their child has been up to at pre-school.
The quality of our work has been recognised by Ofsted, who have rated the pre-school as 'good'. The latest report (27 April 2011) is available from Ofsted. (Our URN is 220304).
Our Pre-School has been in the heart of our community since 1963 (making it one of the oldest in the country). It is a registered charity and is managed by a committee of parents. We thrive on the involvement of parents and support with our fundraising activities is always very welcome.
